CakePHP is an Open Source Framework for PHP. It is inspired from Ruby on Rails and implements many features like Rails. CakePHP is compatible with both PHP 4 and 5. It also provides MVC (Model View Controller) architecture. It provides scaffolding and code generators for rapid development of web applications. Various fetures included in CakePHP are, integrated CRUD for databases and simplified querying, request dispatcher with custom URLs,security-session and request handling components, access controll lists (ACL), and built in validation. Version 1.2 of CakePHP will have unit testing feature using inbuilt simpletest framework.
